Dear Neetu, While drafting a HR policy the following aspects need to be taken care. 1. Try gathering information on the policy which is prevelant in similar industry or if you don't have similar industry atleast with the neighbouring industry similarly placed (this help you in retaining people) 2.Where you are placing your organization (Bench Mark) 3. See that your policies do not voilate the legal provisions. To name a few a) Industrial dispute Act b) Factories Act c) Payment of wages Act d) Trade Union Act e) Shop and Establishment Act f) Minimum Wages Act g) Bonus Act h) If Standing Orders Act is applicable 4. If you are good at the legal provisions its ok other wise it is advisable to get the legal opnion of a labour lawyer. 5. Once you are ready with the draft policy it is recommended to discuss with the department heads as you may get a fell and sometimes improve upon the policies. 6. Educate the employees on the policy and than implement it. All the best Regards Kareem --- On Fri, 5/1/09, neetu singh <singh_neets@yahoo.co.in> wrote:
